Dr. Maria Todd is CEO of Mercury Healthcare. After working as a travel agent in the 1970s, she then migrated to the healthcare industry, learning a wide range of relevant skills such as emergency medical technician, paramedic, surgical technologist, health law paralegal and healthcare dispute resolution mediator. She has had a successful career in managed care and healthcare administration, developing over 70 integrated health delivery systems in the USA and work as a health maintenance organization provider relations coordinator. Dr Todd has decades of hands on experience in network development, credentialing, privileging, insurance reimbursement negotiations, and health plan accreditation preparation. She understands the industry from both the provider and health plan perspective. Advancing to complete both a Master’s and a PhD in Healthcare Administration, over the years Dr Todd has helped build several international medical tourism hubs. She is also President of the Council on the Global Integration of Healthcare (CGIH), an international non-profit on medical travel. Dr Todd has authored nine books on managed healthcare and medical tourism. Having held more than 2700 presentations on these topics for over 60,000 healthcare industry professionals, she is considered a thought leader and visionary in global health and medical tourism circles.
